Diff panes get one git process, Gemini CLI stops hanging, cline fixes custom providers

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Agentic Coding · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

Releases carry the day: three cline channels ship recovery for oversized tool output and a fix for custom providers that failed at task time, while the claude-code diff pane drops from up to fifty git processes per tool call to one.

CLI v3.0.67 cline/cline

by github-actions[bot]

CLI v3.0.67 lets the agent page through MCP output that overran context via a preview plus a link it can read with read_files, and custom providers defined in providers.json or models.json now work when you run a task instead of failing with "Unknown or disabled provider". Provider credential saves no longer fail when the model list can't be fetched.

SDK v0.0.89 cline/cline

by github-actions[bot]

Oversized MCP and Composio results come back in full: the core caches them per session and hands the model a bounded preview plus a cline://cache/... URI that read_files pages through by line range. Custom tools opt in with resultPolicy: "cache-oversized"; the cache is capped at 16 MiB per session and expires after five model iterations without a read.

Desktop v0.0.40 cline/cline

by github-actions[bot]

The desktop release fixes custom providers added via Add Provider, which appeared in the pickers but failed at run time with "Unknown or disabled provider". New chats now remember whether you last used Cloud or Local and which Cloud model you picked, and switching a thread Local to Cloud opens on that remembered model.

fix(core): serialize file tool operations and make writes atomic (#29078) google-gemini/gemini-cli

by elberthc-byte

Concurrent file operations across tool executions, parallel sub-agents in particular, caused silent lost updates, wrong diffs, and .git/index.lock collisions; an in-process per-path async mutex (withPathLock) now serializes them and writes land atomically, with cancellation honored while queued.

fix(cli): prevent CPU hang and quote swallowing on @ within code (#29434) google-gemini/gemini-cli

by elberthc-byte

Piping input to gemini with -p could lock the process at 100% CPU and swallow quotes when code contained scoped packages like @scope/pkg followed by quoted strings. The fix also guards against brace-expansion ReDoS in minimatch and sanitizes paths against directory traversal.

Remove Nostr session sharing from goose core aaif-goose/goose

by michaelneale

Nostr session sharing is gone from goose core: the nostr cargo feature, the nostr-sdk dependency stack, and the _goose/unstable/session/share/nostr ACP method. Plain JSON session export/import survives as the primitive, so anything wired to the Nostr share path stops working at 1.53.
