Cline drops dead CLI flags, gemini-cli fixes auth retry loop, Gemini adds OTLP headers
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Agentic Coding · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
Two operator-visible breaking changes to CLI flags and a pair of auth/telemetry fixes in gemini-cli headline a day otherwise heavy on internal refactoring.
fix(cli): reject schedule and history options that do nothing (#14931) cline/cline
Several options were accepted, saved, and never read by anything, so scripts using them succeeded and silently did nothing: `cline schedule create|update --autonomous`, `--no-autonomous`, `--idle-timeout`, `--poll-interval`, and `--delivery-channel`. They are now rejected instead of ignored, so any automation passing them will fail loudly rather than no-op.
chore(cli): note removed schedule and history options in v3.0.70 changelog cline/cline
The removals above are recorded in the v3.0.70 changelog, confirming the flags are gone for good rather than merely deprecated. If your scripts touch scheduled tasks or delivery channels, check them before the next CLI bump.
fix(auth): prevent infinite verification and OAuth retry loops google-gemini/gemini-cli
Users could get stuck in an endless browser verification and OAuth prompt cycle even after completing browser auth and pressing Enter. `retryWithBackoff` no longer resets its attempt counter unconditionally on a `'verify'` response, and `_doSetupUser` is no longer an unbounded `while (true)`, so retries are now bounded.
`feat(telemetry): support custom OTLP headers in telemetry configuration` google-gemini/gemini-cli
`otlpHeaders?: Record<string, string>` joins `TelemetrySettings`, letting you authenticate and attach metadata to OTLP HTTP and gRPC endpoints such as Grafana Cloud, Honeycomb, Datadog, or an authenticated OpenTelemetry Collector. Until now a collector requiring a header meant no telemetry.
fix(core): enforce terminal user turn invariant and normalize request contents google-gemini/gemini-cli
Requests now always terminate with a valid user turn containing non-empty content parts before they hit `generateContentStream`. `/rewind`, stream aborts, and tool cancellation rollbacks could previously leave history ending on a model turn or an empty turn, which the upstream API rejects.
fix(provider): accept OpenAI ultrafast service tier anomalyco/opencode
The existing `@ai-sdk/openai@3.0.88` patch now accepts `serviceTier: "ultrafast"` for Chat Completions and Responses, with a GPT-6 Astra Responses streaming regression test covering the passthrough. The explicit-tier passthrough behavior and pinned SDK versions are unchanged.
fix(cli): keep --header values when cline mcp add opens the wizard (#14901) cline/cline
Without `--yes`, `cline mcp add` opened the wizard with name, transport, and URL prefilled but dropped every `--header` value, so accepting the defaults saved a remote server without its Authorization header. The wizard now selects "Static headers" and fills the field, keeping the values if you leave it unchanged.
