Codex TUI gains clipboard paste, daemon restart, subagent shortcuts
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Agentic Coding · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
Today's wire is dominated by TUI ergonomics in openai/codex, a Windows ARM64 packaging fix for opencode desktop, and two correctness fixes in goose and cline that operators of those tools were silently hitting.
Support Windows clipboard text paste shortcuts in the TUI openai/codex
Ctrl+V in the Codex TUI used to attempt only image paste, so a text-only clipboard produced an image-paste error, and Shift+Insert never touched the clipboard path at all. On Windows both bindings now try images first and fall back to reading clipboard text asynchronously, with clipboard access errors kept distinct from a simply missing image.
Allow restarting managed background servers from the TUI openai/codex
Startup configuration warnings in Codex could reflect settings from whenever the background server was started, even after you fixed them, and the only way to refresh was to leave the TUI. /daemon now offers a confirmed restart that reconnects automatically and finishes in progress if you exit, with a warning that active or queued work in other chats may be interrupted.
fix(providers): reject malformed GOOSE_MODE across ACP providers aaif-goose/goose
A malformed GOOSE_MODE used to silently fall through to permissive Auto mode across claude-acp, copilot-acp, amp-acp, pi-acp, and claude-code. It now fails loudly, Auto remains the default only when the setting is absent, and codex-acp shares the same resolver.
fix(schedules): stuck pending runs, silent model failures, stale editor models cline/cline
Desktop app schedules could sit in Pending forever with no error: claimDueRuns bound unprefixed named parameters that bun:sqlite resolves as NULL, so the hub never claimed a queued run. The same fix surfaces agent turns that end in provider errors, including a retired model, and stops the schedule editor from listing retired models such as space-bunny.
agent-loop: not infer or steer while a tool approval is pending aaif-goose/goose
When one tool call auto-approves and another waits on your approval, the loop used to call the provider again with an unanswered tool_call still outstanding, and a queued steer could land in that gap. Inference and steering now hold until the gated call has a response.
fix(desktop): bundle arm64 binaries for windows arm anomalyco/opencode
Also worth wiring in: the Windows ARM64 desktop build of opencode was shipping x64 native binaries because CI's aarch64-pc-windows-msvc job ran on an x64 host and resolved @lydell/node-pty from process.platform and process.arch. That is corrected, and opencode pair --remote now explains that the server becomes internet-reachable and asks for confirmation before enabling the setting or creating ...
