Cline drops in-process plugins, Gemini CLI fixes terminal flicker
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Agentic Coding · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
Two operator-visible changes landed today: Cline no longer runs plugin code inside the hub process, and Gemini CLI's v0.64.0 line picks up a batch of terminal rendering fixes for tmux and scrollable tool output.
feat(core): run plugins only in workers; drop the in-process mode cline/cline
Plugin code never runs on a host's main thread, and the `in_process` execution mode is removed along with the fallback that silently ran plugins inside the hub when a host shipped no worker bootstrap. `CLINE_PLUGIN_MODE` now accepts only `worker` (the default) or `sandbox`; if your config still sets `in_process`, it is no longer honored, and a host without a bootstrap for the runtime will fail ...
fix(ui): implement synchronized output and isolate spinner rendering google-gemini/gemini-cli
Interactive UI frame writes are now bracketed in synchronized output, and spinner state renders in isolation, targeting the screen flicker operators see under tmux and similar multiplexers. Comes with new `wrapWithSynchronizedOutput` / `createSynchronizedStdout` plumbing and a `synchronizedOutput` option on `createWorkingStdio`.
fix(ui): fix debug console height calculation and terminalBuffer flickering google-gemini/gemini-cli
The Debug Console (`F12`) max-height calculation read terminal columns instead of rows; it now uses `terminalHeight` from `useTerminalSize()`. The same change turns on incremental rendering and memoizes static history items in `terminalBuffer` mode to stop the buffer flickering.
feat(session-ui): summarize each turn's changed files anomalyco/opencode
The end-of-turn `N Changed files +a -d` summary from V1 desktop is back, with the same per-file accordion the patch tool uses and diffs expanding per file; past five files the rest collapse behind Show all. It is off by default, so turn it on at Settings -> Preferences -> Timeline -> Changed files.
feat(desktop): add Windows NSIS installer aaif-goose/goose
Goose Desktop ships a per-user Windows NSIS installer built by electron-builder from the Forge-packaged app: `Goose-win32-x64-setup.exe`, assisted wizard, per-user only, Start Menu and desktop shortcuts, uninstall entry, and `/S` silent install. The ZIP, its asset name, and the swap updater that ZIP copies rely on are unchanged.
chore(release): bump version to 1.55.0 (minor) aaif-goose/goose
The long tail: Goose opened the 1.55.0 release bump, and OpenHands shipped a fix that wakes a paused cloud sandbox from Resume instead of calling its runtime, plus one that holds a chat message until the cloud runtime is reachable rather than failing it.
