Codex hooks its model requests, Goose caps subagents
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Agentic Coding · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
Two operator-facing defaults changed today: Codex now exposes model request lifecycle hooks for observability, and Goose caps concurrent subagents at five per parent session unless you set GOOSE_MAX_CONCURRENT_SUBAGENTS.
subagent: Limit concurrent subagents with GOOSE_MAX_CONCURRENT_SUBAGENTS aaif-goose/goose
Goose now limits a parent session to five concurrent subagents by default, and additional tasks wait until a running one finishes; stopping the parent cancels both running and waiting tasks. Set GOOSE_MAX_CONCURRENT_SUBAGENTS to change the cap, and note the goose-agent crate keeps its existing unlimited default with with_max_concurrency available to callers.
Add observation-only model request lifecycle hooks openai/codex
Codex adds PreModelRequest and PostModelRequest hooks around every model request attempt, retries included, carrying model, session, turn and optional subagent context and reporting completion, failure or cancellation with errors and token usage when available. Hook output is diagnostic only: it cannot veto a request or alter model context, and synchronous post-request hooks must finish before ...
feat(core): restore session archiving anomalyco/opencode
Session archiving is back in the V2 API after V2 exposed only the stored time.archived value with no way to set it. PATCH /api/session/:sessionID now takes archived: boolean (true archives, false restores, repeating current state is a no-op) and GET /api/session takes an optional archived filter.
feat(core): edit saved permissions anomalyco/opencode
Saved "Always allow" permissions can finally be edited rather than only listed and removed. The new PATCH /api/permission/saved/:id (permission.saved.update) changes a saved permission's action and/or resource, so a broad saved shell: * can be narrowed instead of deleted and rebuilt.
Prune unused standalone releases after successful installation openai/codex
Standalone installs now prune older releases after verifying the installed command while holding the install lock, keeping the current and previously selected releases plus any used by running Codex processes or bundled helpers. Only validated installer-owned release directories are removed, and selection history survives no-op installs.
fix(desktop): bound long conversation rendering aaif-goose/goose
Long conversations in Goose desktop now render a bounded window rather than mounting oldest messages progressively: the first 20 and latest 200 messages appear immediately, with the hidden middle expandable on demand and expanded automatically by conversation search. The quiet tail: Cline's VS Code terminal no longer steals keyboard focus from the chat input mid-command, Bedrock drops ActionReq...
