CachyOS Linux 7.1.8 landed overnight with upstream rebase and performance tuning across memory allocation, while Noctalia configuration hardened for beta 8 stability with direct_scanout gaming support.

The kernel update [1] rebases to upstream 7.1.8 from 7.1.7 and ships optimized vmalloc-free branches cutting page allocation overhead. Hyprland's Noctalia config [2] hit v1.2.5 with beta 8 fixes and added direct_scanout for games [3], plus a new satty screenshot tool default config [4]. On the AUR side, witchlliee pushed niri-spicy-git with HDR and timing protocol support [5], along with kwin-effect-rounded-corners v0.9.0 and niri-focused-booster v0.3.0 across the derived repo [6][7]. Wiki translations accelerated as SoongVilda synchronized all outdated Japanese pages with current English documentation [8], though a revert followed on translation workflow [9].
