CachyOS 7.2.5-1 lands, cachy-update hardens temp files
By RepoJournal · composed from the cited sources · human-reviewed weekly · methodology
Three kernel lines moved this week (7.2.5-1, 6.18.52-1, 7.3-rc3-4) while a coordinated security fix shipped in cachy-update.
fix(security): Harden state / runtime temporary files and system-wide lockfile handling (#799) CachyOS/cachy-update
The change set was coordinated with Arch-Update's maintainer following a security review of the project, and it hardens temporary/runtime file handling and the system-wide lockfile. If you run cachy-update on a multi-user box, take the update.
CachyOS Linux 7.2.5-1 CachyOS/linux
Rebased from upstream 7.2.3 to 7.2.5, dropping the 7.2/t2 branch and pulling ADIOS up to 3.3.0 in iosched-7.2. Stable-line users on 7.2.3-2 should move up.
Rebase against Arch-Update v4.4.0 CachyOS/cachy-update
The updater now tracks Arch-Update 4.4.0, one major step past the 4.3.0 rebase earlier in the week. Paired with the pre-compiled binary packaging work, this is the branch most users will actually run.
chore(build): Add necessary changes to ship a pre-compiled binary for the systray applet and to build without the systray applet CachyOS/cachy-update
Build changes allow shipping a pre-compiled systray binary and building without the systray at all, producing arch-update-bin and arch-update-no-tray AUR packages. Headless and install-from-tarball setups stop needing the tray dependencies.
CachyOS Linux 7.3-rc3-4 CachyOS/linux
The drm/gud TV mode name validation revert carried over from 7.3-rc3-2 and is now applied on top of a further 7.3/fixes update. Anyone tracking the rc line with a USB display adapter should confirm their mode list is intact.
CachyOS Linux 6.18.52-1 CachyOS/linux
Rebased from 6.18.51 to 6.18.52, with the 6.18/amd-pstate and 6.18/sched-ext branches removed. If you relied on either branch on the LTS line, that configuration is gone; the copr LTS package version also moved to 3 this week.
cachyos-drm-awaiter: Bump new pkgver CachyOS/CachyOS-PKGBUILDS
A version bump for cachyos-drm-awaiter, the helper that recovered a black screen this week. Related work changes module lookup to modalias-to-modules resolution the way udev and kmod do it, which is more robust but still leaves cases where several drivers are available for one device.
lsfg-vk: update to 2.0.0 (#1857) CachyOS/CachyOS-PKGBUILDS
Alongside: lsfg-vk moved to 2.0.0, scx-scheds-git bumped its version and tag, bpftune-gaming was adopted, ungoogled-chromium-bin jumped from 152.0.7977.75 to 153.0.8010.47, the void package was removed after upstream archived, and the wiki added a note on recording account credentials for TTY login during GPU migration.
