JAX rewrites sinc near zero, python-genai ships v2.24.0
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Google · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
JAX fixed gradient accuracy for jnp.sinc at the origin while python-genai's v2.24.0 wires up credential APIs and environment file transfers, and python-genai adds google-cloud-backupdr and network-services onboarding.
Fix jnp.sinc gradient and higher-order derivative accuracy near zero google/jax
jax.numpy.sinc now evaluates a Taylor series in (pi*x)^2 for |pi*x| < 1 and the direct sin(pi*x)/(pi*x) quotient elsewhere, with the series degree adapting to the input dtype's machine epsilon (6 terms for float32, 10 for float64). Autodiff differentiates the polynomial directly, so gradients and higher-order derivatives near zero are accurate instead of dominated by cancellation.

by release-please[bot]
Release 2.24.0 adds a credential APIs resource to gaos, RetrievalCallStep and RetrievalResultStep to the interactions schema, and environment file upload/download across the SDKs. Any code consuming the interactions schema gains the two new step types.
feat(firestore): add BSONInt32 support googleapis/google-cloud-python
Firestore's Python SDK gains a BSONInt32 container class that stores 32-bit signed integers from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647 per the official Firestore BSON spec. It rejects booleans and non-integer types with a TypeError and raises ValueError for out-of-range values.
feat(google/cloud/backupdr/v1beta): add google-cloud-backupdr googleapis/google-cloud-python
google-cloud-backupdr is onboarded at google/cloud/backupdr/v1beta, generated through the librarian toolchain. The same effort lands google-cloud-network-services at google/cloud/networkservices/v1beta1.
chore: migrate pre-release test into nightly GitHub Action googleapis/google-cloud-python
The pre-release dependency check moves off post-submit kokoro, where unreleased-dependency issues marked runs failed, to a nightly GitHub Action that opens issues instead. Pre-release is now an early warning rather than a release blocker.
