JAX v0.12.0 cleanup lands, Mosaic GPU drops backend_config for symmetric memory
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Google · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
JAX's deprecated-API cleanup and a Mosaic GPU lowering change that replaces backend_config with standard frontend attributes dominate a quiet day, alongside a python-genai release that wires voice into the SDK.
Clean up references to previously deprecated APIs for v0.12.0 google/jax
by Jake VanderPlas
References to APIs deprecated and removed before v0.11.0 are gone, which changes a custom AttributeError into a generic one. Code or tooling that matched on that custom error text will no longer see it.
[Mosaic:GPU] Use frontend attributes to request collective memory for Mosaic GPU symmetric buffers. google/jax
Mosaic GPU lowering now emits operands_memory_spaces and results_memory_spaces frontend attributes for symmetric memory parameters and results, replacing the backend_config mechanism. Mosaic-specific symmetric parameter checks are removed from XLA GPU memory space assignment and compiler passes in favor of standard frontend attribute handling.
Set the host value promise without holding Gil. google/jax
The host value promise is now set without holding the GIL, closing a deadlock in which the JAX thread waits on the host value. The deadlock was only reachable when the promise was fulfilled from IFRT implementation threads, when futures from ifrt::Array::GetReadyFuture() or ifrt::Client::CopyArraysToHostBufferShards complete.
v2.25.0 googleapis/python-genai
by release-please[bot]
python-genai 2.25.0 adds sample_audio to Voice, adds a Voices API resource to the GAOS SDK, and exposes SpeechMetadata, VoiceConfig.voice, and SpeechAnnotation across the public GenAI SDKs. The voice wiring also landed as a standalone change.
