JAX drops legacy IFRT device APIs, google-auth adds Python 3.15

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Google · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

JAX removed the long-deprecated LoadedExecutable device accessors in favor of the optional-returning devices(), while the Google Cloud Python libraries picked up a python-genai tuning-metrics export, a Bigtable mutations-batcher rewrite, and a google-auth release declaring Python 3.15 support.

Remove LoadedExecutable::addressable_devices() and migrate callers to devices(). google/jax

by Junwhan Ahn

Junwhan Ahn removed xla::ifrt::LoadedExecutable::addressable_devices() and migrated JAX, IFRT IR, and IFRT Proxy callers to devices(), which returns std::optional<DeviceListRef> and yields std::nullopt for portable executables. Code that needs the addressable list must now derive it explicitly via (*devices)->AddressableDeviceList()->devices().

Remove LoadedExecutable::num_devices() and migrate callers to devices(). google/jax

by Junwhan Ahn

num_devices() is gone too, with device counts now read from devices(). For portable executables that return nullopt, pjit.cc evaluates num_global_devices to 1 under the JAX_IFRT_VERSION_NUMBER >= 74 guard, so IFRT version checks now matter if you build against this boundary.

fix(google-auth-oauthlib): prevent ipv6 address reuse googleapis/google-cloud-python

by daniel-sanche

google-auth-oauthlib extends the port-hijack guard that previously blocked external processes from sitting on the same port to also cover the IPv6 address, closing the same oauth interception path over v6.

feat(bigtable): Reroute Mutations Batcher to use data client googleapis/google-cloud-python

by daniel-sanche

The Bigtable Mutations Batcher is rebuilt on the data client, replacing the old implementation and its unit tests, with property references updated to point at the data client; a companion change adds a private batch-completion callback to the batcher and refactors Table.mutate_rows status handling out of MutationsExceptionGroup.

google-auth: v2.59.0 googleapis/google-cloud-python

by release-please[bot]

google-auth 2.59.0 declares Python 3.15 support. python-genai added gcs_metrics_uri for exporting tuning job metrics, and its CLI now emits auto-assigned short flags such as -i for --id in --usage, which previously listed only long flags; Temperature and top_p are back as well. A Spanner change short-circuits query option merging when options are unset and merges into a fresh protobuf instead o...
