KOPS EXPANDS AKAMAI VOLUMES, TIGHTENS SSH USER DISCOVERY ACROSS CLOUDS

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Kubernetes

Kops merged volume management for Akamai while fixing SSH user detection gaps that affect Rocky Linux and GCE testing, as the project stabilizes its distro matrix and hardens test infrastructure.

Kops absorbed a major feature: volume task and cloud interface extensions for Akamai [1], expanding the provider's storage capabilities. In parallel, the team closed a discovery gap where Rocky Linux instances reported empty SSH users in `kops toolbox dump` [2], while a broader fix lets kubetest2-kops query the cluster directly for SSH credentials instead of relying on hardcoded per-distro tables [3]. Test infrastructure moved COS 129 into the GCE grid for latest and 1.36 branches while aging out COS 121 due to containerd 2.1.0 requirements [4], following the convention other recent distros use. The team is now canary-testing SSH user discovery on two GCE nftables jobs [5], treating cos125 as the real validator with u2404 as a control, before rolling the capability wider. Golang text library bumped to 0.41.0 with security improvements [6], and CI actions refreshed across the board [7]. Documentation site synced Korean and Simplified Chinese translations for service concepts and network policy [8], [9].
