KVM, ATA, PCI and kprobe fixes land; omarchy stops asking for sudo four times per update
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
A steady bug-fix cycle across the kernel's virtualization, storage, PCI and tracing subsystems, alongside two archinstall cleanups and an omarchy update flow that finally asks for the sudo password once.

Paolo Bonzini's Arm pull fixes an ITS translation cache that was not invalidated when the guest moved the ITS table base address, skips out-of-bounds ITS device IDs instead of failing the whole save ioctl, and closes a race between VM teardown and nested MMU invalidations for operations allowed to block.

The "no LPM on ATI" quirk, previously applied only to Samsung drives, now covers AMD controllers as well, since the AMD AHCI parts are newer versions of the ATI controllers and still misbehave with those drives; the libata.force parameter documentation is corrected alongside it.

BAR resize now works on devices with no upstream bridge visible to the OS, fixing an amdgpu regression on SolidRun HoneyComb, and dynamic OF nodes omit bus properties when a bridge has no subordinate bus, which had produced NULL pointer dereferences and early boot hangs with CONFIG_PCI enabled.

Disabling kprobe optimization via sysctl or debugfs could hang permanently, as flushers waited on optimizer_completion; the fix replaces that completion with an optimizer_passes counter and wait_var_event_mutex() under kprobe_mutex so concurrent flushers can wait and wake.
Ask for the sudo password once per omarchy update basecamp/omarchy
The no-update wrapper covered the whole run on top of per-phase sudo -k revokes, and omarchy-update-stay-awake revoked the timestamp on its own entry and exit, so one update could prompt four times before the snapshot finished. Now the timestamp is revoked immediately after confirmation and authorized once for the run.
Stop the update sleep inhibitor without a signal error basecamp/omarchy
Stopping stay-awake sent TERM to an exec'd sleep, and systemd-inhibit reports a child killed by a signal as an error, so every update ended with "/usr/bin/setpriv terminated by signal TERM." The held process is now a shell that traps TERM, kills its sleep, and exits cleanly.
chore(seat): #3467 (#4753) archlinux/archinstall
Fueled by installers now covering every offered package, archinstall drops its no-op enable of polkit.service, which is static and dbus activated, enabling only seatd, and renames the label from polkit to systemd-logind with no behavior change.
