sched_ext topology helper grows a size argument, Omarchy shortcuts skip the 60ms client spawn
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
Two threads define the day: a breaking-by-design ABI change to the sched_ext topology helper that lets struct scx_cid grow safely, and an Omarchy effort to cut the latency out of shell menus, theme switches, and fractional-scale rendering.

The CPU topology helper for BPF schedulers took no buffer size, so its structure could not grow without breaking schedulers built against the older layout; it now accepts a size argument. Any out-of-tree sched_ext scheduler calling scx_bpf_cid_topo() needs to pass the size of its struct scx_cid.
Open shell menus and panels through Hyprland global shortcuts basecamp/omarchy
Every keybinding that opened a shell menu or panel used to run omarchy-menu or omarchy-shell, starting a qs client just to deliver one IPC call and costing about 60ms before the shell heard the keypress (qs --version alone takes about 45ms). The shell now registers Hyprland global shortcuts for 10 menu routes and 8 panels, read from default/omarchy/shortcuts.
Keep overlay surfaces mapped so they open sharp basecamp/omarchy
On a fractionally scaled display the menu, emoji picker, clipboard, OSD, reminder flow and Wi-Fi QR code all opened blurry and then went sharp, because each mapped a fresh layer surface and Qt drew first frames before Hyprland sent it the fractional scale. Keeping those overlay surfaces mapped removes the resample step entirely.

The perf events pull covers KVM guest PEBS virtualization, PEBS data-source handling on several Intel PMUs, Panther Cove event scheduling constraints, DMR/NVL OMR extra-register scheduling, and a refcount leak fix, plus a rename of two confusingly named PMU attributes.
Speed up the theme switch's browser refresh basecamp/omarchy
omarchy-theme-set-browser used to run the privileged policy write and then check and refresh each Chromium-family browser one after another, taking 1.0 to 1.5s per theme switch on the machine in the reported issue; that loop is now gone.
