archinstall 4.5 ships, ARC cmpxchg fix lands
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
A quiet 24 hours: archinstall 4.5 arrives with aarch64 EFI and translation work, while the kernel tree takes a round of ARC, RTC, and MTD fixes ahead of 7.3.
4.5 archlinux/archinstall
archinstall 4.5 adds RT kernel variants from upstream, supports aarch64 for GRUB and Limine EFI installation, and picks up the AArch64 root partition type GUID, alongside new Norwegian Bokmål and Serbian translations. The aarch64 EFI work is the notable one: ARM installs no longer depend on whatever the ISO happened to ship.

ARC's arch_cmpxchg_relaxed was computing on the size of the pointer rather than the pointed-to type, spotted by Bradley, and the merge also fixes a clk reference leak in show_cpuinfo() while dropping the dead ARC_CANT_LLSC Kconfig option.

Miquel Raynal calls the QE bit handling in SPI NAND the most important set of fixes here; the batch also covers a mutex issue in SPI-NOR, spurious bitflips on vf610_nfc, OOB byte counts in SPI NAND, and cfi_cmdset stack usage. Raynal notes much of the remainder came from AI fuzzing.
Merge tag 'rtc-7.3-fixes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/abelloni/linux torvalds/linux
The RTC pull is mostly small issues found using AI, per Alexandre Belloni, plus a possible information leak in the subsystem and an efi change restoring alarm support with a runtime capability probe to avoid a regression on some platforms. It touches platforms that depend on RTC alarms for wake.
Read Codex limits without waiting on account/read basecamp/omarchy
Omarchy's agents panel showed "Codex limits unavailable" because the collector asked codex app-server for account/read before account/rateLimits/read; with Codex 0.158, account/read had no reply after 30 seconds in three runs out of three, while the rate-limit call answered in about 0.5 seconds. The limits name the plan themselves, so they are now requested first and account/read is only a shor...
feat(#4466): support optdepends of linux-firmware archlinux/archinstall
The linux-firmware optdepends are now exposed for user selection rather than detected, extended onto _base_packages before the mkinitcpio -P call, which keeps the installer from needing changes each time upstream adds one.
