Linux 7.3-rc6 lands EDAC and drm fixes, Omarchy patches a UKI boot break
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
A 7.3-rc6 window of driver fixes from Linus sits alongside two Omarchy fixes that matter off the bar chart: a greeter keyboard layout that made non-US passwords untypable and an upgrade path that baked a UKI without root=.
Pin root= before the packages that can drop it basecamp/omarchy
limine-entry-tool falls back to /proc/cmdline for root= only while nothing appends to KERNEL_CMDLINE; installing omarchy-settings lands omarchy-defaults.conf, which appends with += and switches that fallback off, so a kernel bump in the same transaction fires the limine hook and bakes a UKI whose cmdline omits root= entirely. Omarchy now pins root= before the packages that can drop it, which is...
Apply the system keyboard layout to the SDDM greeter basecamp/omarchy
The SDDM greeter starts its own Hyprland instance and default/sddm/hyprland.lua declared no input block, so it always fell back to Hyprland's built-in "us" default; on a FR/AZERTY machine the password field was QWERTY and the password could not be typed at all. The greeter now resolves kb_layout and kb_variant from /etc/vconsole.conf, mirroring what default/hypr/input.lua already does for the s...
Keep the Wi-Fi icon steady on OWE transition-mode networks basecamp/omarchy
On an OWE transition-mode network, NetworkManager reports the in-use access point under the hidden _owetm_ SSID between scans and drops the active profile from the device's AvailableConnections, the only place Quickshell builds known networks from, so the bar flipped between the disconnected glyph and signal bars every scan cycle while the link never dropped. Suppressing the transition-mode chu...

Borislav Petkov's EDAC pull fixes an AMD Versal NET reference leak, releasing a remote processor reference acquired at probe time on memory controller instance remove, plus a handful of Altera driver fixes. Petkov's summary of the queue: "This is more of the new normal of LLM-induced fixes of error paths."
Merge tag 'drm-fixes-2026-10-03' of https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/kernel torvalds/linux
Dave Airlie's drm fixes land amdgpu as "the main act," with mediatek as a guest spot and one fix each for xe and i915: xe keeps the VF LMEM BAR size low when no VFs are enabled, and i915 disables VRR DC balance. The misc fixes tree did not produce a PR this week, so more may follow.
Merge tag 'char-misc-7.3-rc6' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/char-misc torvalds/linux
Also in the 7.3-rc6 window: char/misc/IIO carries small iio driver fixes, an interconnect driver revert for a regression, a nitro_enclaves use-after-free fix, and binder fixes, while tty/serial clears tty hangup fixes dating to the BKL days along with vt selection, vt memory leak and screen update, and n_gsm bugs.
Merge tag 'clk-fixes-for-linus-v7.3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/clk/linux torvalds/linux
The clk pull is two small driver fixes: spacemit k3 gets CPU PLL rate tables for a hang triggered by an unavailable frequency, and ti composite resolves parent clocks after a revert that broke OMAP3.
