SoC and RCU fixes land in 7.3-rc, Omarchy tightens Herdr and overlays

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

Late-rc fixes keep arriving for storage, device mapper, and tracing, while Omarchy lands a batch of desktop behavior changes that mostly trade friction for control.

by Linus Torvalds

Arnd Bergmann's SoC pull covers four TEE firmware issues, five devicetree mistakes on NXP i.MX8, lx2160a and Qualcomm machines, and five clk driver fixes on new Qualcomm platforms for incorrect enable states. One devicetree bug is more than cosmetic: an incorrect SD card supply voltage can corrupt file systems.

dm-integrity now validates the superblock after re-reading it and fixes a buffer overflow when tag size exceeds 64, while dm-ioctl no longer reads up to 7 bytes past the end of a block or reads freed memory when ioctls run concurrently. dm-crypt and dm-snap each get a crash fix for invalid table lines.

by Linus Torvalds

Btrfs fixes command queuing and cleanup in encoded read/write ioctls, tightens root and transaction association to avoid unnecessary lock contention and transaction starts, handles replacing multiple xattrs in the same item, and plugs a root reference leak in scrub after reporting an unresolved file path.

by Linus Torvalds

Paul McKenney is sending the fix for a spurious rcu_segcblist_n_cbs() WARN_ON() in cleanup_srcu_struct() now rather than next merge window because enough people are hitting it. It was introduced this merge window by the srcu commit that queues sdp->work when the delay timer is successfully deleted.

A double-dereference splat in TP_printk in usb mtu3 is pre-existing but was exposed by new checking added to the tracing subsystem this cycle; garbage traces can be dumped as a result. In Omarchy, background intros now play at login and on theme switches by pairing a still with an adjacent intros/ file, no registration needed; Herdr theme sync reuses SSH connections per host, port, and user via...
