Mount refcounting bugs reworked, Omarchy adds remote-session indicator
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
A VFS review that began with one bug report turned up years-old mount propagation and reference-counting defects, while Omarchy folds its Apple Silicon and Qualcomm forks back into upstream and makes an in-progress remote session visible on the controlled machine.

Christian Brauner's vfs-7.3-rc7 pull reworks connected mounts after a code review modeled the corner cases of mount propagation, unmounting and mount reference counting, turning up bugs most of them years old, with a selftest alongside most fixes. If you maintain mount handling in out-of-tree code, treat the propagation and refcount semantics as changed rather than merely patched.

Ulf Hansson's MMC/MEMSTICK pull cleans up driver teardown paths: cavium-octeon and thunderx destroy slot platform devices on remove, mtk-sd cancels its request timeout work, sdhci-sprd disables runtime PM, and memstick waits for request completion before freeing the card while rtsx_usb_ms completes requests after eject instead of dropping them. These are the use-after-free and leaked-work shape...
Converge omarchy-mac and omarchy-mx-mac into upstream Omarchy (#14431) basecamp/omarchy
omarchy-mac and omarchy-mx-mac converge into upstream Omarchy, with a new omarchy-hw-platform helper that prints apple-silicon, qualcomm, generic-aarch64 or generic by reading the vendor prefixes in the device tree root compatible and the CPU, since aarch64 alone can't distinguish Macs, Snapdragon laptops, Raspberry Pis and VMs. It fails when it can't classify the machine rather than guessing a...
Install gliff by default and show when a remote session is active (#14712) basecamp/omarchy
Gliff, the Hyprland remote desktop over SSH, ships in the base package set with a migration for existing installs, and a first-party service watching Hyprland's screencast state drives a bar indicator whenever a remote session is active. The machine being controlled now announces that someone is on it.

PCI/AER skips error recovery to undo GPU initialization regressions introduced by the Advisory Non-Fatal Errors support that landed in v7.3-rc1; Bjorn Helgaas notes the same commit caused a spontaneous power-off on MacBookPro16,1 and expects that fix next week, so affected machines stay exposed until then. The remaining long tail across sound (device-specific USB- and HD-audio quirks, a ctxfi m...
