DRM fixes land for 7.3-rc7 as Omarchy reworks keyboard and input setup

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

A drm-fixes pull covering amdgpu, xe, vc4, vmwgfx and nouveau headlines the kernel's late-rc7 traffic, while Omarchy rebuilds how it detects Thunderbolt, cycles workspace layouts, and wires up compose keys.

Merge tag 'drm-fixes-2026-10-11' of https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/kernel torvalds/linux

by Linus Torvalds

Dave Airlie's merge carries the week's collection of amdgpu, xe, vc4, vmwgfx and nouveau fixes, plus misc fixes that had gone missing from the prior pull. The amdgpu set alone touches direct scanout alpha across some DRM_FORMATs, PSR tearing flips, GPU reset vblank handling, the debugfs register interface, display mode patching, Mac reserved memory, plus an SDMA doorbell and a dma-buf reference...

Add a floating mode with titlebars to the workspace layout cycle basecamp/omarchy

by ryanrhughes

Super + L now cycles dwindle to scrolling to floating, and floating workspaces get titlebars drawn in the current theme's colors. Leaving floating only tiles the windows the mode actually floated, tagged omarchy-mode-floated, so apps that are configured to always float are left alone.

Unify input methods with installer keyboard selection basecamp/omarchy

by dhh

Picking Japanese, Korean, or Chinese in the installer now configures the matching input engine, with normal installs and deferred first-boot setup sharing the same choices. Japanese maps to Mozc on JIS or US keyboards, Korean to two-set Hangul, Simplified Chinese to Pinyin, Traditional Chinese to Chewing, all four bundled for offline setup and starting in Latin mode.

Return Caps Lock to normal and make Shift + Caps Lock the compose key basecamp/omarchy

by dhh

Caps Lock is a plain Caps Lock again and compose moves to Shift + Caps Lock, so the emoji and completion shortcuts become Shift + CapsLock M S and similar. Stock XKB has no shifted-Caps compose option, so Omarchy ships omarchy:shift_caps_compose in its own evdev rules and symbols files layered on the system rules.

Re-check Bolt less often while there is no Thunderbolt controller basecamp/omarchy

by maralcbr

The Thunderbolt authorization loops keep their 2 s tick but skip the expensive scan when the last snapshot was idle and no TB_SYSFS domain exists, and the Azerbaijani keyboard entry is gone because kbd's azerty keymap is French AZERTY while XKB's az moves letter keys, which could make disk-unlock passwords differ from desktop typing.
