RISC-V fixes land for 7.3-rc7 as Omarchy rips out its polling loops

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

Linus pulled RISC-V and Landlock fixes late in the 7.3 cycle while three Omarchy PRs replaced per-tick shell scripts with event-driven bindings, cutting tens of thousands of daily process spawns on the desktop.

Merge tag 'riscv-for-linus-7.3-rc7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/riscv/linux torvalds/linux

by Linus Torvalds

Paul Walmsley's pull bundles security fixes, a Zbb strnlen() regression fix for huge counts, and two spots in the RISC-V futex path where user-specified pointers were not stripped of their tag when userspace pointer masking is enabled. Both the strnlen() and pointer-tagging bugs are reachable from userspace on affected builds.

landlock: Drop __counted_by from landlock_domain.handled_masks torvalds/linux

by Nguyen Ngoc Thang

With clang 22 and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE, the second landlock_restrict_self() call tripped a bogus fortify report in inherit_ruleset(), panicking on a four-byte write to a buffer reported as size zero. The fix drops the __counted_by annotation from handled_masks, which clang mis-computes because the flexible array lives in an anonymous struct inside the anonymous union overlaying work_free.

Cache workspace layouts instead of running a script on every switch basecamp/omarchy

by dhh

Every workspace switch used to run omarchy-hyprland-workspace-layout-current (bash plus hyprctl, jq and sed) on every monitor just to pick a glyph. The widget now reads each workspace's layout once and caches it, invalidating on omarchy.workspaces refresh or Hyprland's configreloaded event.

Track the power profile through Quickshell instead of polling busctl basecamp/omarchy

by dhh

The battery service ran busctl get-property on ActiveProfile every two seconds, roughly 43k processes a day, to know whether power-saver was active. activePowerProfile now follows Quickshell's native PowerProfiles.profile binding, and until D-Bus answers the profile reads as balanced so the video feed is not stopped.

Merge tag 'regulator-fix-v7.3-rc6' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/regulator torvalds/linux

by Linus Torvalds

Mark Brown's regulator pull fixes two core issues where of_regulator_bulk_get_all() did not behave consistently with the other bulk regulator APIs, causing memory leaks and error handling problems in callers, plus a handful of driver-specific fixes. The SPI pull in the same batch adds a DesignWare device tree binding ID and an sg2044 fix that enforces clock limits, which Brown flags as more cri...
