Poly1305 carry fix lands, Omarchy locks down N1x laptops and idle fingerprint readers
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Linux · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
The Linux tree picked up two Poly1305 fixes including a lost carry bit, while Omarchy shipped the day's real substance: NVIDIA N1x laptop support, a fix for disappearing docked windows, and a lock screen that stops hammering the fingerprint reader all night.

Eric Biggers' crypto library pull fixes two Poly1305 bugs, one of them a lost carry bit when the arm64 NEON path resumes from saved state, and adds a regression test covering that split-update case. Anything relying on Poly1305 for MACs on arm64 was computing over resumption boundaries that the new test now exercises.
Support the NVIDIA N1x laptops (#14820) basecamp/omarchy
Omarchy gains aarch64 support for NVIDIA N1x machines, gated entirely on a new omarchy-hw-n1x detector that matches ACPI NVDA0200 MediaTek I2C controllers or the 10de:2e06 GB20B GPU, so x86_64 behavior is unchanged. The install path runs before nvidia.sh, pulls linux-n1x and its headers, drops the stock kernel, and pins console=tty0 with acpi=nospcr.
Leave the fingerprint reader alone while the lock has the displays off basecamp/omarchy
The lock used to keep a pam_fprintd verify running the entire time the session was locked, restarting 250ms after each attempt timed out, plus a 1-second timer to notice sleep, which kept the reader and fprintd awake all night with the displays off. It now holds back the next attempt once runBlank fires, letting any in-flight attempt finish under its own timeouts.
Keep floating layout for workspaces with minimized windows (#15442) basecamp/omarchy
Minimizing the last window on a floating workspace sent the window to special:minimized, leaving the workspace reporting zero windows, which omarchy-hyprland-workspace-layout-default treated as empty and reset to the new default layout, hiding the dock that was the only way to restore the window. Minimize now tags each window with the workspace it left so that layout survives.
Remove Rust through rustup's own path instead of a mise shim (#15436) basecamp/omarchy
Rust removal now goes through rustup's own path rather than a mise shim, which had been linking the rustup toolchain as its own install and putting failing shims on PATH. With no global Rust version set the shim errored, the swallowed failure left Rust installed while the menu reported success, and Install > Development > Rust stayed disabled.
