Codex now handles portable Agent Plugins with schema-declared manifests and cuts terminal redraw overhead by caching screen dimensions instead of querying on every frame.

The platform dropped support for legacy plugin identifier rules in favor of Agent Plugin's root `plugin.json` schema, accepting dotted names and versions that don't fit directory-safe formats [1]. TUI responsiveness improves significantly as terminal size queries move from every redraw to resize events only, with cached dimensions passed through transcript reflow and viewport updates [2]. Two-stroke key chords like `ctrl-x ctrl-s` now work in keymap configuration [3], with conflict detection against single-key bindings and a one-second timeout to cancel pending chords. Tool execution metadata now survives across prompts, reattaching `executed_tool_calls` when outputs flow into subsequent requests and bounding retained history to 32 KiB [4].
