Codex's biggest changes touch the two places TUI users feel most: subagent interactivity and how the fullscreen transcript is turned on.

The root-only MCP elicitation guard and its allow_user_interaction plumbing are gone, so subagents can surface prompts and wait for responses under the existing approval policy and automatic review rules. Browser sign-in, form input, and interactive tool approval previously failed in a child thread with guidance to ask the parent agent; those flows now work in the subagent itself.
Move fullscreen transcript control to TUI configuration (#46849) openai/codex
Use tui.fullscreen_transcript to opt into the fullscreen transcript, including scrolling, selection, and search; it defaults to false, and --no-alt-screen and tui.alternate_screen = "never" still take precedence. The features.transcript_v2 flag is now deprecated, so move any existing configuration to the new key.
Preserve streamed answers when subagents finish openai/codex
Subagent activity that arrived mid-stream used to flush the parent answer before the authoritative message completed; it is now deferred until the answer stream finishes, and queued lifecycle activity drains when a turn ends without opening queued prompts. Late activity still shows after the turn stops.

The usage overlay takes mouse input: clickable tabs and report controls fire the same actions as the keyboard shortcuts, the wheel scrolls in bounded three-line steps, and clicks are limited to rendered targets with stale targets ignored after refreshes or surface transitions.

Reports, the dashboard, and help keep independent scroll positions instead of resetting on switch, selections stay visible through resizes without overriding manual scrolling, and small terminals now have room for usage details while larger ones show more chart.
