Codex 0.157.0 ships GPT-6 Sol and Luna, prebuilt V8 for Bazel

By RepoJournal · Filed · About OpenAI · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

Codex 0.157.0 adds two new models with Amazon Bedrock support, flips local thread history to pagination, and moves macOS and GNU Linux builds onto checksum-pinned prebuilt V8 archives.

0.157.0 openai/codex

by github-actions[bot]

GPT-6 Sol and Luna land in the CLI with Amazon Bedrock support and migration prompts for older models, alongside fullscreen transcripts on by default, Shift-click selection extension, and an `f` shortcut that forks a conversation open in another app while preserving drafts and queued input. Interactive sessions with eligible settings now start the background server automatically, and incompatib...

Use prebuilt V8 archives for Bazel on macOS and GNU Linux openai/codex

by copyberry

Bazel builds on x64 and arm64 macOS and GNU Linux now pull checksum-pinned rusty_v8 150.4.0 release archives and matching Rust bindings whenever pointer compression and the V8 sandbox are on. Custom V8 C++ flags or instrumentation require opting back in with --//:rusty_v8_from_source=true, and any setting that differs from the prebuilt profile falls back to the source path.

Default local threads to paginated history openai/codex

by copyberry

LocalThreadStore now defaults to paginated history while keeping an explicit legacy mode; Guardian review sessions use paginated history, and in-memory stores can create paginated threads. Full-history resume, fork, and subagent helpers are renamed to mark them as legacy APIs, thread/revert is rejected for ephemeral threads, and the TUI no longer replays or attaches full history.

Add bounded credential-storage telemetry helpers (#47901) openai/codex

by Celia Chen

StorageTelemetry records operation counts, durations, secure-store outcomes, and file fallback reasons under bounded labels, and emits fallback warnings that carry no credential payloads or error text. Typed keyring error causes are preserved through std::io::Error and the local secrets backend, and client attribution now propagates explicitly across task boundaries.

Add diagnostic reasons to MCP attribution errors openai/codex

by copyberry

McpAttribution gains an optional error_reason field so callers can tell history and recorder failures apart from request serialization failures, with the first recorder error retained through checkpoints, compaction, resume, and fork. The Python and TypeScript SDKs documented their error surfaces instead of changing behavior: Files and Uploads validation, missing-file, upload-state, and storage...
