Beta agent sessions get spending limits, pagination limits tightened

By RepoJournal · Filed · About OpenAI · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

The OpenAI SDKs shipped session spend controls and stricter pagination validation in both Python and TypeScript, while Codex's TUI picked up Windows paste, daemon restart, and subagent navigation.

feat(api): add beta session spending limits openai/openai-node

by jbeckwith-oai

Beta agent sessions can now carry a spending limit in USD cents, set on create or update, with best-effort consumption read back and unlimited sessions omitting spend_control entirely. Omitting spend_control on update retains the limit; passing null removes it without resetting recorded spend, and consumed is typed as a JavaScript number, so integration code doing exact arithmetic should be awa...

feat(api): align beta pagination limits and non-null parameters openai/openai-node

by jbeckwith-oai

Pagination now follows the API's shared validation: page sizes must be 1 to 100 with a default of 20, and session, vault, and vault-credential listings reject out-of-range limits with HTTP 400 instead of clamping them. List parameter types no longer accept null for the five list limits or the artifact after cursor, so replace explicit null with omission or the compiler will object.

feat(api): add beta session spending limits openai/openai-python

by jbeckwith-oai

The same beta session spending limits landed in the Python client, with synchronous session configuration matching the TypeScript surface. Python code that passed explicit nulls for optional pagination arguments hits the companion change from the same effort, which drops None from those list-limit annotations.

Support Windows clipboard text paste shortcuts in the TUI openai/codex

by copyberry

On Windows, Ctrl+V previously attempted only image paste, so a text-only clipboard produced an image-paste error, and Shift+Insert never used the clipboard paste path at all. The TUI now tries images first and reads clipboard text asynchronously when no image is available, keeping clipboard access errors distinct from a missing image.

Allow restarting managed background servers from the TUI openai/codex

by copyberry

A confirmed restart action now lives under /daemon, which lets you refresh a managed background server without leaving the TUI when a startup configuration warning reflects stale settings. It warns that active or queued work in other chats may be interrupted, reconnects automatically, and lets an in-progress restart finish even if the TUI exits.

Allow selecting and copying TUI turn tips openai/codex

by copyberry

The long tail: turn tips are now mouse-selectable and copyable, Alt+Left and Alt+Right subagent navigation shortcuts appear in the help overlay, agents navigation still works after a thread is archived, Decisions usage reporting and image-URL inputs reached both SDKs, OCI joined the Python external-storage providers, and openai-python v3.29.0 added a billing_not_active session error code and th...
