Vue Router deprecates scrollBehavior in favor of built-in scroll restoration

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Vue.js · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

Vue Router is retiring scrollBehavior for a built-in scroll restoration that restores hashes and top by default, and vuejs/language-tools removed a per-prop glob compile from its template codegen.

Deprecate scrollBehavior vuejs/router

by posva

posva's PR deprecates the scrollBehavior option, and the new default restores a saved position when one exists, otherwise scrolls to a matching hash target or resets to the top. Custom restore handlers can now use the destination route when choosing a position, so handlers keyed off the target route keep working during the migration.

docs(router): deprecate scrollBehavior and document migration vuejs/router

by Eduardo San Martin Morote

The router docs commit marks scrollBehavior deprecated and documents the migration path, clarifying default capture and restore behavior, how keys group saved positions, and how to register pages for restoration. Read it before you delete an existing scrollBehavior implementation.

feat(router): restore hashes and top by default vuejs/router

by Eduardo San Martin Morote

A companion commit makes hash and top restoration the default behavior rather than something you wire up yourself. Routers that currently manage scroll position manually may now double up with the built-in restore unless you opt out.

perf(language-core): precompile attribute glob matchers vuejs/language-tools

by Cherry

Template codegen checked every component prop against vueCompilerOptions.dataAttributes and htmlAttributes with patterns.some(pattern => isMatch(name, pattern)), and picomatch recompiled each glob on every call, so every prop paid the full compile cost for every pattern on every regeneration. The fix compiles each list into a single matcher once, when compiler options are resolved.

feat: diagnose experimental beforeEnter migration vuejs/router

by Eduardo San Martin Morote

A new diagnostic covers migration away from the experimental beforeEnter behavior. In the router's test desk, optional-route parameter coverage was extended to verify link activity for omitted and null params and the /about path, including trailing-slash behavior.
