Anurag Verma completed a major restructuring of the Cortex Bridge plugin, extracting a runtime-agnostic memory core and wiring up the full Cognee lifecycle.

The work spanned three focused changes to anurag629/cortex-bridge. First, he filled in the missing pieces of the Cognee memory operations [1]. The plugin had only been using remember and recall, but a hackathon entry needed all four to score well. He added cognify and memify methods to the client, along with two new tools the model could call: cognee_optimize for pruning stale nodes and reweighting edges, and cognee_forget [2]. Testing against a local Ollama server confirmed all five tools registered correctly and the requests came back 200.
Next came the architectural shift. He split the project into a bun workspace [3], moving the Cognee memory engine into a runtime-agnostic @cortex-bridge/core package and converting the OpenCode plugin into a thin adapter on top [4]. This decoupled the memory layer from OpenCode and set it up to be shared across coding agents. The work cut two OpenCode-specific couplings and passed parity checks: typecheck, build, plugin-check, and smoke tests all passed.
Finally, he renamed everything from the old cognee-flavoured branding to Cortex Bridge [5]. The bundle became cortex-bridge.plugin.js, the plugin id changed, the log prefix switched to [cortex], and the five model tools became cortex_recall, cortex_remember, cortex_feedback, cortex_optimize, and cortex_forget [6]. Environment variables moved to CORTEX_* with COGNEE_* as a fallback to avoid breaking existing setups. References to the actual Cognee server, cloud key, and API stayed unchanged. He verified the rename at parity on the local Ollama server.
