Portfolio website with dynamic social cards and visitor tracking

Anurag built out a Next.js portfolio site from scratch, layering in SEO metadata, dynamically generated Open Graph images, and a unique visitor counter backed by Redis.

Starting from a Create Next App scaffold [1], Anurag laid down a handwritten paper-style design [2] and added documentation [3]. He set up GitHub Pages deployment with a workflow [4] to automate publishing.

The SEO work came next: search engine optimization metadata [5] followed by dynamic Open Graph image generation [6]. The OG images needed rework to function properly during static export [7], then evolved to include a circular profile photo with gradient border styling [8], improving the visual presentation when the portfolio is shared on social platforms.

Visitor tracking rounded out the day. Anurag first added a floating counter using CountAPI [9], then replaced it with a more sophisticated version using Upstash Redis and localStorage [10]. The final implementation tracks unique visitors per browser and device, keeping the counter fixed in the bottom-right corner with paper-theme styling.
