ARCH CLEANS HOUSE ON WLROOTS, GNOME UNSTABLE MOVES TO BETAS
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Arch Linux
Arch is dropping both wlroots0.18 and wlroots0.19 from extra repositories, clearing the way for newer compositor stacks across the distro.
The removals [1] [2] mark the end of support for two legacy wlroots versions, likely driven by newer Wayland compositors that have already moved on. In parallel, the GNOME unstable channel is tracking upstream closely with gdm bumped to 51beta-2 [3] and snapshot updated to 51beta-1 [4], keeping pace with GNOME's rapid beta cycle. Separately, rpi-imager landed version 2.0.11-1 in extra-testing [5], giving Raspberry Pi users a chance to validate the tooling before stable push. Across all tracks, this is routine maintenance work spanning 50 commits, nothing critical but plenty of forward motion.
