KERNEL SCHEDULER UPDATES ACROSS BORE AND SCX TOOLING

By RepoJournal · Filed · About CachyOS

CachyOS shipped BORE 6.8.0 patches across two kernel series while upgrading its sched-ext ecosystem in parallel, signaling major tuning work ahead.

The scheduler desk landed BORE 6.8.0 for both the 7.1 and 6.18 kernel series [1][2], the bread-and-butter CPU scheduling patch that powers CachyOS installs. On the sched-ext front, scx-tools-git and scx-scheds-git both got version bumps and tags [3][4], keeping the experimental scheduler framework in sync with upstream movement. Jupiter-fan-control got patched for a thermal zone rename crash loop [5], a fix that prevents boot hangs on Steam Deck hardware. The CLI installer continued infrastructure work with gucc gaining net-profiles support for both groups and user-supplied configs [14][15], bringing feature parity with calamares while the live ISO shifted the rate-mirrors service to masked mode [6]. Rate-mirrors itself landed version 0.30.0 with LLVM stack compilation to dodge LTO linking errors [7][8], and Vladislav Nepogodin's batch of AUR nvchecker fixes across freetube, librepods, libsrm, louvre, and qlcplus keep package update detection locked in [9][10][11][12][13].
