Consul K8s is stripping shortNames from routes while the Enterprise edition gains external processor integration.

Consul K8s shipped a breaking change that removes shortNames for routes [1], simplifying the route configuration model. The same team pushed a CNI version bump to 1.3.0 [2], which unlocks support for the 1.1.0 protocol version and should land before your next cluster upgrade if you're on the bleeding edge. On the Enterprise side, Consul proper merged ext-proc changes [3] that extend the API Gateway with external authorization upstream support, bringing parity with the authorization model you've been waiting for.
