TERRAFORM AWS PROVIDER SHIPS MAJOR VERSIONS WITH ELASTICACHE AND ECS EXPANSIONS

By RepoJournal ยท Filed ยท About HashiCorp

Terraform AWS provider v6.34.0 through v6.57.1 landed overnight with ElastiCache fixes, new ECS capacity reservation support, and the second MailManager resource joining the roster.

The AWS provider shipped a cascade of versions [1] anchored by a critical ElastiCache perpetual diff fix [2] that stops replication groups from drifting unnecessarily on every apply, a problem that has quietly wasted cycles for years. The ECS desk shipped ODCR support [3] adding On-Demand Capacity Reservation targeting to managed instance launch templates, a feature set that tightens EC2 cost control for containerized workloads. MailManager now has rule set management [4] alongside its earlier resource, completing the core mail management loop. Test cleanliness work removed unnecessary null checks across the MailManager suite. Across the policy library desks, both PCI and NIST repos unified 373 policy files by moving inline URL references into header comments [5] [6], a change that keeps violation messages cleaner in HCP Terraform UI runs while backporting improved S3 SSL logic from the CIS policies.
