BINUTILS 2.47 LANDS ACROSS ALL TARGETS, MESA 26.1.6 ENTERS TESTING

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Arch Linux

Anatol Pomozov rolled out binutils 2.47-1 across the full cross-compiler stack in one sweep, while Mesa 26.1.6 hits testing with 32-bit multilib support in tow.

The state desk pushed three binutils updates simultaneously: aarch64-linux-gnu-binutils, avr-binutils, and arm-none-eabi-binutils all land at 2.47-1 in extra-x86_64 [1] [2] [3]. This coordinated move keeps the cross-compilation toolchain in sync across embedded and heterogeneous targets. On the graphics front, Mesa 1:26.1.6-1 is now in extra-testing-x86_64 [4] with lib32-mesa following suit in multilib-testing [5], giving the community a chance to shake out any driver regressions before stable. The signstar desk moved to stricter lint enforcement by converting all `allow` suppressions to `expect` attributes [6], which catches when lints no longer apply, improving code hygiene. David Runge elevated the public API surface of signstar-yubihsm2 by re-exporting `yubihsm::object::Info` [9] and added a `Credentials::id` accessor method [7], closing gaps that forced library users to pull in extra dependencies. The team also bumped rust-version to 1.96.1 [8] to unlock newer language features. Across both repos, 92 commits landed in the period, with the binutils trilogy and Mesa updates driving the highest impact for downstream.
