Float rounding up to 30% faster, LiveView link targets fixed

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Elixir & Phoenix · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

Elixir's float internals got leaner on the arithmetic path while Phoenix LiveView closed two long-standing client-side gaps in link attributes and upload error handling.

Avoid constructing unused Float rounding intermediates elixir-lang/elixir

by preciz

Rounding half-up, floor, and ceil now use a single shift and small-integer arithmetic instead of building quotient, remainder, and bignum masks. The PR reports up to 30% faster in some cases, and the same rewrite landed on the main branch as commit 91ee75b.

Respect live link target and download attributes on child clicks phoenixframework/phoenix_live_view

by lukaszsamson

A click on a nested element inside <.link patch={...} target="_blank"> used to lose the anchor's target and download attributes, so wantsNewTab misjudged the intent and the new-tab behavior never fired. The component now reads those attributes off the anchor when a child handles the click.

Complete errored uploads and release form loading refs phoenixframework/phoenix_live_view

by SteffenDE

Errored uploads now complete their lifecycle and form loading refs are released, closing the leak tracked in #4465; the patch also handles writer_errors and adds an e2e test for the path.

Splice exponent-only float literals directly from binary spans (#15968) elixir-lang/elixir

by Barna Kovacs

Exponent-only float literals are spliced straight from their binary spans at compile time rather than being reassembled, a small tokenizer-level win.

Remove dead code found by the type system elixir-lang/elixir

by José Valim

José Valim removed dead code that the type system flagged, and LiveView's unchanged asset bundle was refreshed in a separate commit.
