URI.encode_query builds pairs as single binaries, Phoenix CI workflows hardened
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Elixir & Phoenix · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
A pair of internal quality passes landed today: Elixir trims allocations out of URI.encode_query and cleans up its own deprecation text, while Phoenix pins and standardizes every GitHub Actions workflow.
Build each pair as a single binary in URI.encode_query elixir-lang/elixir
Each pair is now encoded directly into the accumulator holding the encoded key and delimiter, skipping the intermediate binary allocations and string concatenations the function used to do per pair. The commit message states the result plainly: "Faster and uses less memory."
Standardize and harden GitHub Actions workflows phoenixframework/phoenix
Runners are pinned to ubuntu-24.04 instead of ubuntu-latest, jobs get explicit timeouts, persist-credentials: false is set where appropriate, and concurrency control now forces GitHub Pages deployments to complete sequentially. The follow-up to the earlier CI hardening pass and the docs.yml addition touches every workflow in the repo, so a self-hosted or forked CI setup that assumed ubuntu-late...
Improve non-standard messages in `@deprecated` (#15984) elixir-lang/elixir
Deprecation messages were reworded to stop producing malformed HexDocs output and compiler warnings caused by non-standard formatting, including trailing punctuation that doubled up periods in docs.
Fix incorrect narrowing in mixed type for into elixir-lang/elixir
Mixed-type narrowing in into clauses was narrowing incorrectly; the fix closes both reported cases, which means code that previously inferred an overly narrow type from into should now infer correctly.
