CachyOS ships Linux 7.2.0 stable, expands translator and mirror reach
August saw CachyOS deliver Linux 7.2.0 stable with new schedulers, plus a broad i18n push and a restored Plasma login manager
The headline for the month was CachyOS Linux 7.2.0, which shipped mid-August with new schedulers and was followed by a wave of point releases addressing scheduler fixes, fragment issues, and Broadcom Wi-Fi DKMS support. The kernel train moved fast, from RC6 to RC7 [1], then to 7.2.0, with a subsequent 7.1.x line holding stable. By month's end, 7.2.2-1 carried the latest fixes, alongside kernel 7.2.1 with a scheduler fix.
CachyOS also bolted on user-facing foundations. The default scheduler got a hotfix, and a new session launcher rule set (AIRE: Ananicy Rules) fixed scheduling for session launchers. The CachyOS update tool went through several releases, rebasing to v4.2.0 and adding Turkish support, a Russian prompt fix, and better Dutch capitalization handling. The package roster kept pace: multiple AUR-derived bumps landed, including faudio 26.08 and iloader 2.3.0.
On the documentation front, the wiki saw a translation blitz, with German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish pages updated to match latest upstream, plus a fix targeting black-screen installs in the KDE wiki. The German wiki is now complete. While the German translation of cachyos_settings.mdx and hardware acceleration docs were refreshed, an earlier attempt to drop the Plasma login manager was reverted, restoring the package. Mirror infrastructure held steady through the month, with status checks showing USTC and Nanjing responding in 1650 to 2500 ms [2][3].
A notable regression from the RC6 era: LLVM Propeller fixes resolved kernel 7.2 incompatibility on llvm-propeller 20260727 [4]. Handheld gaming also got a dedicated push late in the month, with SteamOS session control landing, plus a tuned update that removed THP and laptop mode. The dashboard got an SEO overhaul, and the cachy-aur-derived repo added sysd-manager v2.20.4, keeping pace with upstream packages.
