Arel equality gets subclass state, bootsnap preserves source encoding
By RepoJournal · Filed · About Rails · Composed from the cited sources · methodology
Rails correctness work landed on both ends of the stack today: Arel nodes now compare the state that actually changes emitted SQL, and bootsnap stopped transcoding Ruby source before Prism compiles it.
Include extra node state in Arel equality rails/rails
Arel::Nodes::Matches, Regexp, InfixOperation and UnaryOperation inherited eql? and hash from Binary/Unary, which compared only class and operands, so escape, case_sensitive and operator were ignored. Since each of those fields changes the SQL visitors emit (ESCAPE, LIKE vs ILIKE, and so on), nodes that produce different queries could compare equal.
Preserve source encoding in the Prism workaround rails/bootsnap
With Encoding.default_internal set, the Prism workaround could transcode Ruby source before compiling it; in Metasploit on Windows with Ruby 3.4.9 and default_internal set to Encoding::BINARY, valid UTF-8 source raised Encoding::UndefinedConversionError and the console would not start. The fix passes internal_encoding: nil to File.read so the compiler sees the original bytes, and the explicit U...
Remove dead code for Ruby < 3.3.1 rails/rails
The minimum Ruby version moved to 3.3.1 back in March, so the compatibility branches for older Rubies are gone; the test added alongside that bump stays because it validates the 3.3.1+ behavior.
Update index.html rails/website
The suggestion box was removed from the Rails site's index page after spam bots made it unusable.
/events and /world updates rails/website
The last tail of the day: rails-world content shifted its focus from Austin to Lisbon, a Rails World 2026 recap post was added, and the RW26 site picked up a playlist.
