Old migrations get their first real test coverage

By RepoJournal · Filed · About Rails · Composed from the cited sources · methodology

Rails moved to pin down versioned-migration behavior that has shipped for years without adapter-specific regression tests, while lemans cut 1.5.0 with a viewer and proxy-container allowlisting.

Add regression tests for adapter-specific migration compatibility rails/rails

by yahonda

yahonda added regression tests for the adapter-specific branches inside ActiveRecord::Migration::Compatibility, the ones that decide a Migration[5.1] create_table still emits ENGINE=InnoDB on MySQL and a Migration[6.1] t.datetime still becomes timestamp on PostgreSQL. Those branches are selected by connection.adapter_name checks that mostly had no test asserting the resulting schema, so this is...

Fix V5_1 change_column to honor table_name_prefix rails/rails

by Yasuo Honda

Compatibility::V5_1#change_column on PostgreSQL applied :default, :null and :comment through the connection directly, skipping the proper_table_name that Migration#method_missing normally applies. With table_name_prefix or table_name_suffix set, those statements ran against the name as written: an error when no such table exists, or a silent change to an unrelated table when one does.

Merge pull request #58845 from rails/fix-sqlite-explicit-reference-type-on-6-0 rails/rails

by Yasuo Honda

An explicit type: on SQLite references is now honored in 6.0 migrations, so old migrations that spell out the reference type no longer fall back to the adapter's default.

+ docker: support allowlist via a proxy container rails/lemans

by Vladimir Dementyev

lemans added support for an allowlist enforced through a proxy container in its docker setup, extending the sandbox's network controls beyond the firewalled default. It lands alongside the 1.5.0 version bump and a new lemans-viewer for inspecting run artifacts.

+ lemans {clobber,regrade} runs/dir rails/lemans

by Vladimir Dementyev

Quieter housekeeping: the Active Support dependencies test fixtures and the unused Contact#pseudonyms in Active Model tests were removed, and lemans gained clobber and regrade run-directory commands plus a switch from artifact_paths to Store#artifacts.
